Descendants of Cape Cod and the Islands

Membership is extended to men and women 18 years of age or older who are direct lineal descendants of an ancestor who was a resident, owned land, conducted a business or trade, or performed military or civil services prior to 31 December 1699, within the boundaries of present-day Cape Cod, Elizabeth Islands, Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket.

The following is a partial list of acceptable activities for eligibility:

• Ancestor resided and/or owned land in what is now Cape Cod, Elizabeth Islands, Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket.

• Ancestor engaged in trade or commerce in what is now Cape Cod, Elizabeth Islands, Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket.

• Ancestor established a trading post in what is now Cape Cod, Elizabeth Islands, Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket.

• Ancestor engaged in some of the initial surveying and exploring activities in what is now Cape Cod, Elizabeth Islands, Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket.

• Ancestor served as a court judge hearing cases pertaining to what is now Cape Cod, Elizabeth Islands, Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket.
